WHAT NOBODY TOLD YOU ABOUT STROKE

IT IS WELL....😒

Yesterday was world stroke day and l feel l should share this.

Most times what we hear about stroke is usually the causes, signs and symptoms, the complications.

But we have not really considered the effect and impact of stroke on the family finances and other family members.

Stroke is a long them condition and most times the patient will not completely recover and so they will be dependent on family members.

WHAT AND WHAT IS INVOLVED 🤷‍♀️

CAREGIVERS:

This may include a doctor, nurse, caregiver depending on the severity of the case.

They may need a live in caregiver with doctors and nurses coming at intervals for review.

MONEY:

Money is one factor we need to consider with stroke because hospitalisation, medications and payment for a caregiver and other things needed for patient's comfort and recovery requires money.

OTHER MATERIALS NEEDED

Apart from the medications there are necessary things you need to get for them depending on their condition;

👉Air or water mattress to prevent bed sore

👉Adult Diaper because some can no longer walk to the restroom

👉TED stocking to prevent 'deep vein thrombosis'

👉Mouthwash for oral care

👉Sudocream to prevent bed sore

Etc

PSYCHOLOGICAL BURDEN:

No matter the amount of money you have, long term illnesses can be challenging; emotionally, physically and financially.

The best ways to avoid all of these is to prevent stroke before it occurs, monitor your blood pressures and take medications as prescribed if you are hypertensive.

Like I mentioned earlier, some persons may not completely recover from stroke, once it strikes, it will become a life time problem.

The time to take action against stroke is NOW!
