WORLD MOSQUITO DAY ( 20th August)
World mosquito ๐ฆ day is celebrated every 20th of August, to create awareness on mosquitoes and it's effect on our health.
THE THEME FOR THIS YEAR IS
"Harness innovation to reduce malaria disease burden and save lives"
Malaria is caused by female Anopheles mosquitoes.
It was first discovered by sir Ronald Ross in 1897
Is important to note that apart from malaria mosquitoes also cause
Other health issues.
OTHER MOSQUITO RELATED HEALTH PROBLEMS INCLUDE;
-ZIKA VIRUS ๐ฆ : caused by ( Ae. Aegpti and Ae. Albopictus) they bite both in the day and night.
- DENGUE : Caused by female Aedes Aegypti(Ae) mosquitoes
- CHIKUNGUNYA: caused by female Aedes Aegypti and Aedes albopictus
- FILARIASIS: This can be caused by different species of mosquitoes.
Culex mosquitoes, Anopheles mosquitoes and Aedes mosquitoes
- VIRAL ENCEPHALITIS: This is caused by treehole mosquitoes (Aedes triseriatus)
Different types of mosquitoes are found in different countries and cause different medical conditions where they are found.
